Victorinox Secure and Victorinox Presentation Master
25th March 2010
Victorinox has just launched their Secure, and Presentation Master Swiss Army Knives in London, and they are just what every executive secret agent has been waiting for!
Available from 8GB to 32GB, not only can this drive store a massive amount of data, but it also keeps your data secure using military grade AES 256 encryption.
It authenticates each user by means of its built-in biometric fingerprint reader or by password.
And if it's being hacked, it is programmed to self-destruct!
Un-hackable AES 256 Encryption Technology:
The Victorinox Secure and Presentation Master keeps your data safe using the AES encryption standard, which is so secure that the U.S government has adopted the standard to encrypt Classified information.
The encryption is actually carried out on-board the flash hardware itself, which means it's fast, it won't affect the performance of your computer, and it makes it much more difficult for hackers to gain access through a software backdoor.
Victorinox is so confident their system is secure, they put up a $100,000 prize at their official launch (CES, Las Vegas & European Launch, London), to anyone who can hack in and get at the data.
Bio-Metric Fingerprint Recognition:
To gain access to the USB stick, users have to authenticate themselves by scanning their fingerprint into the built-in reader.*
Without your living, breathing finger, there is no way to access the data.
The biometric fingerprint module features oxygen and thermal sensors. Trying to use an amputated finger, or a silicone impression of a fingerprint will not work.
* The device can also be set up the device to use a password instead.
MKI Schnuffi Chip - Kamikaze, microchip style!
The Schnuffi chip is the brain of the unit, and is one of the smartest USB controllers on the market. It continuously monitors what is happening, and can detect if a hacker is trying to gain entry.
If it detects a hacker is getting close to breaking in (e.g using a brute force attack), it initiates a voltage surge through the memory module. The surge literally burns the memory chip out causing it to smoke, wiping all stored data and rendering it useless.
There are multiple levels of defense before it gets to this stage, including a firmware lock which Victorinox can reset at their factory if neccessary.
Built-in Bluetooth (Presentation Master only):
The Presentation Master includes a Bluetooth module on the back which can be used to control slides in a Powerpoint presentation, or for the more technically adventurous, it could even be used to open and close the garage door.
